Abstract
This paper presents a virtual platform, LABVIRTUAL, with a wide scope, focussed on the learning of Chemical Processes. This multi-functional platform, divided in different sections directed to several typical chemical processes, includes multimedia libraries, simulators, applications and case studies to better understand the chemical processes. The focus will be on the synergistic effects of combining in the same platform different tools and also different subjects. The benefit for the students of the approach followed is discussed, namely on what concerns knowledge integration. These web tools support the autonomous study of the students, contributing to develop their critical and creative thinking, and enabling more practical approaches to the different chemical processes. In this manuscript a special attention will be given to the use of interactive simulators to enhance the understanding of Chemical Processes by the students.
