Abstract
Currently a number of electronic components capable of processing multi-GHz electrical signals are available on the market. This allows building a system for measuring the difference of optical frequencies of two semiconductor lasers, exploiting high-speed photodiode and frequency prescalers and based on coherent detection and down-conversion.
