Abstract :
As a new mode of knowledge production and industrial organization as well, peer production has aroused wide and extensive attention both in academic fields and industrial circle. Researchers have pay high attention to the motivation and behavior of peer producers, namely, participants in peer production items. Under the framework of motivation-behavior-performance, this paper tries to reveal the relationship among various motivations of Baidupedians, as well as the relationship between their motivations, behavior and performance. We found that motivation of pursuing knowledge and communication could enhance motivation of use-value; the motivation of use-value, motivation of interest and competence can obviously promote participating behavior; motivation of competence and participating behavior can enhance performance. Finally, based on the argumentation of the empirical results, suggestions for Baidupedia managers are put forward.
