Research on the current situation of the open source community in China from the network perspective

With the rapid development of the open source movement in China, the construction of the open source community problems surfaced. The joint use of social network analysis tools and the complex network research can easily reveal the communication relation among human beings. This article introduce the development state of the main open source community in China, and then consider the communication behavior among these members by mining data from Oschina.net, which is the biggest open source community in China. These data represent the status of communication among authors. The communication network is then built by these data and studied by adopting the complex network methods. The results show that even the most popular open source communities focusing on communication in China also face some problem, such as the sparsely of the communication, disloyal community members, and the terrible actual operating conditions of the open source community based on collaborative development project. In conclusion, the development of the open source movement in China is still in its infancy, the situation is not optimistic and the future road is still long and hard.
