  • Abstract
Remote sensing using scattered or reflected GNSS signals off the Earth´s surface is a new category of satellite navigation applications. These multipath signals are usually considered to be undesirable signals since they reduce the accuracy of GNSS positioning. However, scattered GNSS signals can be utilized as signals of opportunity for passive remote sensing. This paper presents new synthetic aperture radar imaging process using scattered GNSS signals in bistatic radar geometry and its validation through numerical simulations as well as a field experiment.
