  • Abstract
The goal of this paper is to promote a very effective algorithm using satellite high resolution co-polarized information to interpret and quantitatively assess various surface ocean phenomena. In particular, the proposed methodology helps to better understand, discriminate and quantify the different scattering mechanisms responsible for the manifestation of surface currents, slicks and wind field features in SAR images. Description of the algorithm is given. Applied to a RADARSAT-2 quad-polarization ocean SAR scene, an investigation and interpretation of various detected surface features is further carried out.
