Abstract
Nowadays, mobility has become an essential aspect in our daily life. Several mobility management protocols have been designed in order to support real time applications. Fast handover for Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6) provides quality of service (QoS) guarantees for multimedia service applications. Despite the fact that FMIPv6 performs the best performance, it does not take into account wireless security requirements such as authentication and confidentiality. The requirements for strong security scheme adds additional delay. This result is a fundamental trade-off between security and quality of service. In this paper, we propose an enhanced FMIPv6 to secure handover in wireless heterogeneous networks. The proposed protocol (called SFMIPv6) has been modeled and verified using the software SPAN Security Protocol ANimator for AVISPA (Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications) and is found to be safe scheme.
