Abstract
Multi-phase machines (more than three phases) offer additional degree of freedom in control that can be used for developing improved drive system. This paper presents mathematical model of a seven-phase series-connected three-motor drive system. The modeling is done first in the phase variable domain and then transformed into the stationary common reference frame. The presented model is verified using simulation approach. The presented model can be used to validate the high performance control of the drive system.
