Medical Applications of Radio-Frequency and Microwaves-Sensing, Monitoring, and Diagnostics [From the Guest Editors´ Desk]

This focus issue of IEEE Microwave Magazine is devoted to various research activities within the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Technical Committee Biological Effect and Medical Applications of RF and Microwaves (MTT-10). While the March issue of this magazine focused on radio-frequency (RF) and microwave technologies in therapeutic applications and the safety issues of using millimeter waves, this issue puts the spotlight on medical sensing, monitoring, and diagnostics related to the microwave and millimeter-wave spectrum. The following contributions are intended to provide the reader with a general picture of the state-of-the-art research and development activities currently going on in the field of high-frequency biomedical sensors and devices.
