Abstract
The migration of the highly qualified personnel from the Romanian health system to the western countries in general, and especially to France, has recorded a spectacular dimension after Romania entered the U.E. The present article is based on a survey undertook in 2011, within a post-doctoral scholarship in France, that involved 72 Romanian doctors who were working in Alsace and Lorraine areas. The study highlights the fact that the migration of the highly qualified personnel from the Romanian health system is the result of the demographic aging phenomenon and the medical staff aging in France on the one hand, and of the problems the Romanian sanitary system faces, on the other. The keen competition among the developed countries for the recruitment of Romanian doctors represents a major challenge for the policy in the health system.
