  • Abstract
With the rapid development of the mobile wireless system, the operator is experiencing unprecedented challenges on service maintenance and operational expenditure, which drive the demand for realizing automation in current networks. Cell outage compensation functionality is considered as an effective way to minimize network performance degradation after cell outage. Our work presents an automated cell outage compensation mechanism in which picocells deployed in heterogeneous networks will perform the resource allocation algorithm to outage macro users in which a new concept named “compensation timeslot” is introduced. The proposed compensation mechanism has been implemented in the LTE-Advanced simulation environment, through which the configured cell outages have been efficiently compensated and the service gets guaranteed for outage users at the same time.
