Abstract :
Anti-malware testing standards have an inherent bias towards existing malware and commodity platforms. On the one hand, this bias is understandable; on the other hand, this bias results in little guidance for evaluating novel types of platform and anti-malware technology. Using the documents from the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization as a guide, we look at how testing can be extended to allow meaningful but safe evaluation of nonstandard security solutions.
