Abstract
This paper discusses an alternative new approach to electricity storage that goes beyond the conventional price arbitrage focus. New opportunities for storage created by the growing share of renewable energy sources are explained. Storage options show not only different technical matureness degree but also specific site dependency and different technology development potential. Trends in redox flow battery technology are shown. An overview of project REDOX2015, leaded by EDP, is given.
