  • Abstract
    The Remote Visitor Robot is a system that was developed to allow a person to visit a distant place such as an office, an aged-care center or a meeting room by controlling the robot through a user interface that sends the commands via Internet, giving the user the impression of riding the robot itself. This paper discusses the improvement of the upper part of the Remote Visitor Robot and which consists of replacing the note PC that was originally used to interact between the user and the environment of the robot by a pan-tilt unit and a Tablet PC to make it more human-like and give it more functionalities such as expressing “Yes”, “No” and greeting by nodding. This improvement was followed up by a necessary update of the code to give the Remote Visitor Robot the ability to perform a wider range of functionalities that was made possible by the adding of the pan-tilt unit.
