Abstract
A simple yet efficient method for design optimization of omnidirectional antennas is presented. Our approach exploits coarse-discretization electromagnetic (EM) simulations and kriging interpolation to construct a fast surrogate model of the antenna structure under design. The adaptively adjusted design specifications (AADS) technique is then utilized to account for the discrepancy between the surrogate and the high-fidelity EM antenna model. The optimized design is obtained at the low computational cost corresponding to a few evaluations of the high-fidelity antenna model as demonstrated through examples.
