Abstract :
A highly directive AMC-based wearable antenna which exhibits a wide 1 GHz impedance bandwidth and a gain of over 6 dBi which covers the 802.11 Wifi band is demonstrated for the first time while maintaining a small electrical size. The antenna is inkjet printed on paper substrate making it low-cost and bio-friendly. The performance of the antenna is studied in air and on a body phantom to demonstrate the high performance of the antenna whether in air or on a lossy body.
