Abstract :
The planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) is probably the most popular antenna in the modern mobile devices. Despite its popularity, currently there is no circuit model that accurately explains its input impedance or its far-field radiation patterns. This paper presents a novel circuit model for the PIFA antenna. The presented model will be used to compute the input impedance and far-field patterns of a PIFA antenna given its physical dimensions.
