Abstract :
In this paper, a new DNG (Double Negative) unit-cell is presented. This unit-cell has smaller dimensions and better bandwidth compared to a conventional SRR (Split-Ring Resonator). The unit-cell is simulated using CST Microwave Studio and according to the results, this structure has a miniaturization factor of 0.74 compared to the conventional SRR. The DNG bandwidth of structure is also 40% better. Then, the unit-cell is being used in a DNG superstrate for a microstrip patch antenna. The simulation results show that using this DNG superstrate a gain enhancement of 4dB is achieved.
