Abstract :
A new analog beamforming method is proposed for the periodical amplitude modulation array. The weights for beamforming are transformed to the amplitudes and initial phases of periodical sinusoidal amplitude modulation signals added to each RF channel. Compared to existing beamforming method with time modulated array, the new method generates less harmonic radiation and occupies less bandwidth. Two simulations about pattern synthesis and adaptive beamforming are presented to verify its effectiveness.
