Abstract
LTCC substrate has been widely used in many fields nowadays. In this paper, we investigate the use of it as a dielectric resonator antenna. Marcatili´s approximation is used to predict the modes of a dielectric resonator (DR). HFSS eigenmode model has been built to verify this method. Subsequently, a dipole is applied to excite the DR and its radiation properties have been studied. Finally, an example of 60 GHz UWB dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) has been designed and an end-fire gain of 9.6 dB is achieved based on simulation.
