Abstract :
The present work demonstrates the feasibility of estimating blood glucose using a microstrip antenna in a wireless system where the antenna is strapped on a diabetic patient´s arm. The antenna is connected to a network analyzer that is automated to make measurements every 15 seconds. The antenna response is monitored in real time and analyzed to correlate changes in the S11 frequency response to blood glucose concentration levels. The measured shift in the resonant frequency with changes in the glucose level has been interpreted in a Clarke error grid to demonstrate feasibility.
