Abstract :
Due to the irreversible demagnetization of the permanent magnet caused by high temperature rising which results from high loss density and difficult heat dissipation, a cooling structure with air-cooled and water-cooled structure was presented for a MW high speed permanent magnet motor of 1120kW, 18000rpm. A 3D finite element model for the steady temperature field of air-cooled and water-cooled motor was established by ANASYS. Then the 3D steady-state temperature field distribution of air-cooled and water-cooled MW high speed permanent magnet motor under the rated load were obtained. The effect on temperature rising of motor with variable air speed and water speed was analyzed. The results provided a theory basis for the cooling system design of this type of high speed permanent magnet motor.
