Abstract
We demonstrate the high-speed and efficient direct modulation of a novel transverse-coupled-cavity (TCC) VCSEL for radio over fiber applications. An oxide-defined cavity acts as an ultra-compact lateral feedback resonator integrated with a 980nm VCSEL. The modulation amplitude was enhanced by over 25dB in a millimeter-wave band beyond 26 GHz.
