Abstract
We have realized optical waveguides using solid polysilane. The refractive index of the polysilane is changed by heating or irradiation for ultra-violet lights of 330 nm wavelength. Optical waveguides are achieved by selective irradiation of the lights to the polysilane. We have designed and fabricated multi-mode optical couplers and single-mode optical waveguides, and experimental results for them were successfully demonstrated.
