Abstract
The concept of array cameras is a new approach to imaging. It offers unique and exciting possibilities packed in very low z-height. The feature of 3-D imaging will enable new applications in smartphones and will become a must-have. Even very compact array cameras, e.g. in a 2×2 layout, deliver a high resolution video stream and a depth map without any additional hardware. On the hardware side, the lens technology is the key for computational cameras.
