Abstract
Dispersion causes pulse broaden and this limits the distance of transmission of the fiber and reduce its information carrying capacity. Technique of dispersion management using a span of dispersion compensating fiber is used to mitigate the problem of dispersion. The Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation is approximated to represent dispersion effect and it is simulated in Matlab environment. The results shows that pulse broadening increase with increase in the transmission distance along the fiber and the dispersion managed signal using the proposed compensation is exactly the same as the input.
