Abstract :
Integration of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant, Heat Pump (HP), Thermal Storage (TS) and auxiliary boiler into a district heating scheme is able to provide an efficient way of using energy. This paper analyses the feasibility of such a scheme in Ebby Vale using the EnergyPro tool under existing energy market and policies. In the scenario based simulation, a 40279.7 MWh worth of heat was sent. The results show that the CHP+TS system present more encouraging environmental performance and acceptable profit margin, whilst the economic potential can be enhanced further with the addition of a HP unit. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to show to which extent economic assumptions will vary the result.
