Abstract
A sandwich-typed six-phase permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) consists of an outer stator and an inner stator, between which a rotor with permanent magnets is inserted. This paper presents the operational principles and design methodology for this type of generator. Compared with the traditional configuration of a PMSG, it offers higher power density, thus providing an attractive alternative for wind generators.
