Abstract :
With the rapid of wind farm connection into grid, the tripping problem of wind farm becomes more and more prominent. Large wind farm tripping seriously threatens the safe and stable operation of the grid. Voltage source converter based HVDC (VSC-HVDC) has been used for wind farm connection into grid. This paper focuses on the tripping of wind farm connection based on VSC-HVDC. Firstly, the paper analyses the typical failure evolution process over spatial and temporal scales. Furthermore, it establishes the mathematical model of the wind farm access VSC-HVDC system and researches tripping of wind farm mechanism and the dominant factor. For different reasons for the tripping of wind farm, based on VSC-HVDC control characteristics, the paper proposes improvement measures.
