  • Abstract
A multifunctional virtual power quality monitoring and control unit in the charging station of PHEV (plug in hybrid electric vehicles) is designed and implemented in LabVIEW environment. It monitors the power quality and analyses the total harmonic distortion. These measurements are used to control the plug which is in turn is used to charge the electric vehicles. Plug in electric vehicles are nonlinear loads. When it is connected to the grid at peak load time, it generates harmonics which affects the power quality of the system. LabVIEW environment is used to track the harmonics produced and also to changeover the input source like wind, solar(renewable energy sources) or battery charger are used as are alternate source of energy. This module is created by the LabVIEW environment.
