Abstract :
This paper presents an Intelligent Power management system which primarily focuses on power availability which is a major conundrum faced in developing countries. The system can efficiently control the power delivered from the various energy sources to the load while utilizing the Diesel generator or a transmission line to attain a continuous supply. An ARM CORTEX-M3 controller is used for all control purposes which provides us with many intuitive solutions. The controller implements the MPPT algorithm for extracting the maximum power from the PV cell. PV cell is used as the primary source of energy. The wind turbine is utilized as a secondary source. A battery bank is used to store the power generated by the energy sources. Here the Battery bank´s power is utilized only if the other sources are not able to satisfy the load on its own. Finally down the hierarchy is the diesel generator who´s switching on and off is controlled by the power available in the battery bank .User interaction is improved by the provision of a GSM transceiver which directly appraises the user´s phone or computer about the predicted amount of diesel required for any needed period. The user is also given the control to switch on and off the sources, thus acting as the governing unit for the entire system.
