Abstract :
• DME specification allows a large pulse shape variation - Should be tightened for multipath mitigation as much as possible • The mitigation is up to 45% • Proposed near term operation - Ground DME transponders transmit one pulse shape - Legacy airborne DME interrogators may not be able to transmit one pulse shape - DME avionics software updated to use the proposed algorithm - Multipath mitigation from ground to air only • Proposed long term operation - DME interrogator and transponder transmit one pulse shape and uses the proposed algorithm - Multipath mitigation in both ways
