Abstract :
The present paper deals with a new Dichotomous parametric exponential information gain function whose expected value yields new entropy functional. The notions of similarity index of order p and the rate of similarity for a sequence lying in a given closed interval is introduced and studied. It is established that for the dichotomous sequence lying between 0 and 1, the uncertainty decreases linearly with a constant rate. Moreover, the properties of this new entropy functional are studied and the findings are compared with the entropy functions defined by Shannon [1] and Pal and Pal [4, 5]. Finally, an application in medical diagnosis is also established using this new entropy functional.
