Abstract :
Cognitive radio (CR) is an intelligent software radio which detects and exploits the unused spectrum. It provides efficient utilization of available resources and reliable communication. In spectrum sharing, CR user shares the spectrum of Licensed Users (LU) when spectrum is free to access. The purpose is to make the best use of available resources without disrupting the functioning of Primary Users. In this paper, the interference introduced by the Primary Users to the Secondary Users (SU) is reduced, so that transmission data rate of Secondary Users can be increased without affecting the performance of Primary Users. To suppress this interference, the transmission power of Secondary User is optimized and sidelobes of the Primary User are reduced by applying various pulseshaping windows. As interference by Primary users to Secondary user decreases, SINR of the SU increases and the transmission data rate gets improved.
