Abstract
In present work we introduce simple metal baffles for improving the gain of horn antenna. The baffle dimensions and distance from the feed are optimized without loading the feed. Performance of baffles like hemisphere, shuttle and variants of ellipse has been studied. Simulation based analysis for 20-30 GHz reveals that gain >21 dB can be achieved with a tradeoff of poor input matching at the edge frequencies. In this work parametric study is done to achieve S11<;-10 dB and gain >20 dB with radiation pattern discussed. These proposed structures have shown good performance and are suitable for applications requiring compact and high gain horn antennas.
