Abstract
In order to prevent accidents of infrastructures, attempts have been made to embed sensor nodes to infrastructures and to detect signs of accidents. In this case, the sensor node is a small battery-powered node, and ease of deployment requires wireless communication. Furthermore, no battery exchange in sensor nodes is required because the sensor nodes are set to locations where maintenance is difficult. Moreover, the battery life of the node is shortened when the sensor node needs to send a large amount of data obtained from the environment to a server. In order to address this problem, before sending the data to the server, a program in the sensor node processes the data in order to reduce its size. In this paper, we estimate the relationship between the battery consumption of data sending and program execution in a battery-operated wireless sensor node.
