Abstract :
This paper provides the theory of operation for the Army´s future communications network known as the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T). The WIN-T will represent the Army´s first fully integrated data network that will serve a majority of the tactical Warfighter in the tactical theater from theater-level down to the company-level commander. WIN-T will ultimately bring multiple communications tiers that include ground-based Line-Of-Sight (LOS), airborne relay, and satellite communications (SATCOM) designed to service the widely dispersed future force. The WIN-T architecture will be developed in 4 Increments. This paper will focus on the Increment 2 and Increment 3 phases of the WINT program. WIN-T is a common user system that provides an Everything over IP (EoIP) capability to the Army warfighter ranging from Company level units to Theater level echelon. Each increment brings additional capabilities and enhanced technologies to the tactical warfighter.
