Abstract
This paper proposes a new gust alleviation control system using discrete-time preview controller with prior gust velocity information. The onboard wind measurement Doppler LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) system, currently being developed in Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, can detect even clear air turbulence and estimate velocity of wind gust at a range of about 10 km ahead of an aircraft. The designed preview controller is assumed to utilize prior velocity information of turbulence measured by the LIDAR system. Simulation results are provided to show that the designed system is capable of attenuating aircraft acceleration in turbulence.
