Abstract :
Understanding the connection between points of interest in the city and social media content helps to better understand how the urban citizens perceive and interact with their environment. We provide a detailed analysis of the content of geolocalized tweets around the city of Paris. Based on proper statistical tests, we draw the following conclusions: 1) People tend to mention places close to their current location; 2) People tend to tweet in a limited area around their points of interest; 3) The location type (restaurant, museum, etc.) has a direct influence on the content of the tweets.
