Abstract
Photovoltaic (PV) modules are expected to operate as independent power sources that require little in terms of maintenance. However, the efficient use of sunlight is an ongoing subject of concern for both PV module designers and users. In this paper, a three-dimensional (3D) PV module designed using the Fibonacci number sequence (hereafter called an FPM), which is expected to make more efficient use of sunlight, is discussed. As part of our study, a quasi FPM was designed using simulation values established via this research and the fabricated FPM´s power generation characteristics were clarified. It was shown that the power generation characteristics of the FPM could exceed those of a conventional planar-type PV module if multiple stages were installed and used.
