Abstract
We developed a fast 1D time-dependent/steady-state drift-diffusion simulator, accelerated by adaptive nonuniform mesh and automatic time-step control, for modeling CdS/CdTe solar cells. The algorithm for non-uniform mesh reduces the number of nodes by defining coarse meshing where the electric field is low and fine meshing where the electric field is high. The automatic time step control gives large time step to accelerate the time domain simulation when the current changes smoothly. Transients simulated by constant time step in response to step-function signals of different bias and varied light intensity are reproduced.
