Abstract :
Significant advances continue to be made in thin film photovoltaics in terms of cost structure, efficiency and large scale manufacturing implementation. A novel CIGS tandem module technology has been developed and high efficiency (22%) prototype devices have been achieved. These tandem modules are in the initial phase of ramping into full scale manufacturing in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The challenges of developing both the Mississippi manufacturing location and the scaling of the tandem module in preparation for >100 MW level production is discussed. The tandem module is enabling and represents a differentiating technology for Stion Corporation.
