Abstract :
Air pollution dispersion model and grid technologies are tightly coupled to develop a new virtual geographic environment (VGE) application paradigm, which support simulation analysis of the Pearl River Delta regional air pollution dispersion. Unlike existing work, our methods pay attention to the multidimensional and dynamic modeling methods, which can increase understanding of the air pollution issues in virtual PRD environment. Moreover, some GIS (Geographic Information System) spatial analysis and real-time interactive operation with the VGE will also be implemented to support the management and control of atmospheric pollution. Using Visual Studio 2005 .NET, GT4 and OSG development package, a prototype system has been developed to construct the virtual PRD region environment. It can offer an intuitive, efficient, and interactive visualization environment through which participants can explore complicated spatial air pollution information and implement GIS spatial analysis and inquiry.
