Abstract :
Summary form only given. RAILENIUM (http://railenium.eu/) aims at creating a research and testing institute dedicated to rail infrastructure and systems. RAILENIUM intends to be a reference centre for Europe, bringing together all major railway players in Europe. With strong growth prospects for rail infrastructure, the opening of the market to competition, the need to control the costs and to ensure a sustainable development of the network, RAILENIUM will contribute to a more competitive and environment friendly rail service. As of today, RAILENIUM involves 7 research agencies and 18 companies (including manufacturers, constructors, infrastructure managers, engineering companies...) and is meant to attract other European partners and relevant stakeholders. Located in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region (France), at the heart of the European railway network, RAILENIUM offers high level research facilities and efficient test equipment for the rail infrastructure.
