Abstract
This paper describes some of the challenges faced from a transmission system protective relaying standpoint in executing this project from conceptual design in January 2010 to completed installation in December 2011. Some topics that are addressed include automatic reclosing schemes, breaker failure schemes, autotransformer protection schemes as well as different protection schemes for the transmission lines. In addition, the challenges of transferring the protection schemes from the existing control cubicle to the new control cubicle while maintaining a substantial portion of the substation inservice are discussed.
