Abstract
The present and the past work of the sonar image enhancement techniques are reviewed in this paper and we also discussed about the steps involved for object detection. In digital image reconstruction image fusion plays a major role of preprocessing. Image fusion will integrates the relevant information of same scene from multiple images with same dimension. The resultant image should be better quality and it preserves all the required and useful information´s from the source images. It will be highly suitable for the analysis of human and machine intervention. Further tasks such as classification through segmentation and object detection are done. Despite the significant research conducted on this topic, the development of efficient sonar image fusion and other image processing tasks are still a big challenge for the researchers.
