Abstract :
This paper is based on reducing the main issue which reduces the comfort of railway transportation, the vibrations, that are mainly due to the track variations. Rail track irregularity is the main cause of vibration and different researches are in progress for reducing the vibration. The proposed system called intelligent track monitoring system (ITMS) can be adopted to eliminate the track irregularities. We use this to check the aberration in the track and a method is proposed to rectify it. The MEMS technology is widely used as a sensor today due to its reliability. The sensor is placed both the axel box and bogie in the vertical and lateral directions. The controller always watches the signal from the GSM and processes it accordingly. Global positioning system (GPS) is used to determine the location if GSM level is very low or absent. ITMS automatically identify the location of irregularity and send it to the central office. Continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is used to estimate the output and the performance of the proposed approach was studied. The comparisons result proves that the proposed monitoring system definitely increase the ride quality of the passenger.
