Abstract
In the last few years, the rising demand of portable devices added to the competition and resulting increase in quality for secure, reliable and faster means of communication from wireless LAN infrastructure. Furthermore, the infrastructure already exists in most public places and is cheaper to extend. This has led to expansion in the size of wireless networks, which in turn has increased the cost and power consumption of access points and switches in the WLAN network infrastructure. The present work tends to address the best design technique for maximum efficiency in terms of power saving and cost of communication network. In order to save energy in communication networks, first we design centralized network with the help of network infrastructure and controller. Next, we will propose a novel approach to reduce the power consumption of access points by making a controller more intelligent. We assume that it will be capable of taking appropriate decision , when the new user comes under the coverage of sleep access point. At some particular condition , our proposed intelligent controller based technique can be more efficient in terms of power consumption of WLAN and this minimize the cost. Next with the use of a powerful control mechanism an effort will be made to achieve the efficient power consumption over the network. All this will minimize power consumption and maximize the throughput of the network. In order to reach the optimal results, we assimilate it with some more approaches. The results so achieved will illustrate that this approach can afford a significant lifetime rectification over other power saving techniques on WLAN.
