Abstract
Green computing is a study or rather a practice of utilizing the computational resources available to us in a very optimistic way. Green computing refers to supporting business critical computing needs with least possible amount of power or sustainable computing. In the past, the sole focus was on IT equipment processing power and associated equipment spending while infrastructure that includes power, cooling and data center space was always assumed available, ready, a given and affordable. Information while transmitted from one system to another must needs to be secure yet, and also to make sure that it does not compromise on green computational factors like environmental conditions, energy efficiency and performance. This paper discusses about comparison of Intel and AMD xenon processors with power consumption factors and few recommendations to improve the next level of processor for computing.
