Abstract :
In this contribution, we present the implementation of a time-to-digital converter (TDC) in a Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA device. The instrument is able to measure the time delay between START and STOP signals with resolution below 16 ps and linearity better than 7%. The principle of operation is based on the Wave Union A and B techniques.
